DPW lays out $2.06 million first-year plan to maintain 260 lane miles of roads

"So this 1st year number of $2,060,000, is, you know, there's there's several ways to, skim the cap, but there are, this provides a mix of reclamation of our our worst roads ... plus about 17 miles of overlay... and about 10 miles of crack seal," Jacobs said, summarizing the work types and why drainage and subgrade repairs are often included in reclaim projects.
Jacobs explained reclaim projects typically include drainage replacement and are more time-consuming than overlays; committee members asked for clarification on reclaim versus overlay and noted the DPW will try to prioritize projects that align with sewer replacements to share paving costs and reduce taxpayer burden. The CIP recorded the road plan in the matrix for consideration by the select board and budget committee.
