Energy Safety says redlined WMPs are necessary; seeks feedback on technical hurdles

A joint utilities request to eliminate the redline requirement for WMP updates drew a firm response from Energy Safety, which said the redline is essential for staff to determine precisely how an approved WMP would be altered.
"We heavily need and use and reference that red line to know exactly how the approved WMP is being proposed to be changed," Nicole Dunlap said, explaining why Energy Safety requires redlines. She asked utilities to describe in comments what makes producing redlines difficult or whether there are technological approaches that could make redline production easier. Energy Safety encouraged attendees to respond either during the workshop Q&A or in written comments due Aug. 13.
The question generated no immediate consensus during the workshop; staff said similar issues and stakeholder proposals will be considered when draft guidelines are released.
