Energy Safety: expect 2028–2031 WMP filings in spring; simultaneous RAMP/WMP cadence to follow
Summary
Energy Safety told utilities to expect 2028–2031 wildfire mitigation plan filings in spring (likely between February and April) and said simultaneous filing of RAMP and WMP will begin in each utility's subsequent WMP cycle, not immediately next year.

Energy Safety staff told utilities they should generally expect to file 2028–2031 wildfire mitigation plans (WMPs) in the spring filing window. "Generally, you can expect to file in spring. This is subject to change, of course, but very likely it will be no earlier than February and no later than April," Nicole Dunlap said in response to a joint utilities question about timing.
Staff also addressed when RAMP and WMP filings will be synchronized. A utility asked whether the concurrent WMP/RAMP filing cadence would start next year; Energy Safety replied that the simultaneous filing cadence will begin in each utility's subsequent WMP after next year's filing, and utilities will remain on the existing cycle for the immediate next filing.
Energy Safety staff said utilities should plan for potential regulatory uncertainty and include in their WMPs what they can reasonably commit to in early years if GRC decisions are delayed. Stakeholders were reminded that written comments on the workshop topics are due Aug. 13 and that draft guidelines will be published later this year.
