Stephanie Johnson, the county’s planning and zoning administrator, delivered the monthly planning update for January, noting that staff issued a number of zoning and erosion-control permits and that a sizeable wetland mitigation project was approved.
Johnson reported that during January the department issued one commercial accessory permit, five residential primary permits, six residential accessory permits and two farm structure permits; 52 zoning permits remain pending. She told the board there are two solar sites proposed on Cumberland Road and described a recently approved wetland mitigation project stretching roughly 64 acres along the James River near Cartersville.
Johnson also noted several conditional use permit (CUP) and rezoning items on the agenda, including CUP 2503 (Arcola Towers cell tower), CUP 2504 (Camp Parsons), CUP 2505 (Osborne Carter lot replacement), and rezoning work for the Cumberland Industrial Park, which would require EDA action as landowner. Board members asked clarifying questions and Johnson offered follow-up support on several items.
