Council backs RPOA request and presses for tighter event controls after big turnout

Jeff Koblick (RPOA) was present to discuss three Live on the Common events and broader programming. Councilors expressed general support for funding but emphasized conditions.
Chief Pata warned that the recent event exceeded the town’s staffing capacity and produced traffic and parking problems: “I think we saw it really clearly at this last event. We had huge problems with traffic. We wrote a lot of parking tickets.” Council and staff discussed requiring special‑event permit conditions, private security and better trash and recycling enforcement; staff said the town expects applicants to return the common in the condition they received it, and that larger events will require additional budgeted resources for overtime, cleanup and security.
