"Arcola Towers proposes to construct a 199 foot tall telecommunications tower on a section of the property that's about a 100 by a 100," planning staff said during the presentation. Staff told the board that, consistent with county code, towers under 200 feet typically avoid FAA lighting requirements; the applicant provided FAA review results and visibility images. Staff said all standards in the applicable supplemental zoning regulations (sections cited in the packet) were addressed and the planning commission unanimously recommended approval.
No Cumberland County residents signed up to speak in opposition during the public hearing; an applicant representative praised staff responsiveness and noted FAA findings indicating no hazard. The board opened then closed the public hearing and moved to board discussion on the application.
