The Orleans Parish School Board Legal & Governmental Affairs Committee heard an overview of the 2026 Louisiana legislative session from Juliana Lund, who told board members the regular session "adjourned on Monday, June 1 and concluded with over 1,700 bills and 800 resolutions filed." Lund summarized bills of particular relevance to the district and steps the district took to advocate for its priorities.
Lund said the district engaged extensively with the Orleans delegation and partner organizations on measures ranging from the state operating budget to school safety, special education and charter funding. She described the legislature's attention shifting after statewide redistricting and highlighted the forthcoming MFP task force review, scheduled to produce recommendations by Jan. 1, 2027.
