The Pine County Board of Commissioners voted Jan. 7 to make Josh Moore board chair and Matt Ludwig vice chair for 2025 following nominations and roll-call votes.
Moore was the only nominee for chair after a colleague nominated him; commissioners cast their votes by roll call and the motion passed. "Commissioner Moore has been nominated," a board officer announced before the unanimous vote certified his election. The board then held a separate vote for vice chair and selected Ludwig after a contested roll call.
The elections were part of the board's organizational business at the start of the meeting, which also included approving committee assignments and confirming the county's meeting schedule for the year. Administrators said committee assignments will be refined as needed and that staff will circulate calendars to new members.
The board moved quickly from elections into regular agenda business, including appointments and discussion items scheduled for subsequent meetings.
The board did not take additional substantive policy action tied to the leadership votes; procedural follow-ups include distributing committee rosters and calendar invitations.
