The superintendent used the meeting to present three proposed annual goals drafted from December evaluation feedback: an academic and instructional focus (curriculum, assessment, staff development), continuing and polishing the district strategic plan, and creating more opportunities for student voice.
The superintendent said they had presented a long list of possible goals and "cut it down to 3" to provide focused priorities for the year. The superintendent asked the board for feedback and suggested forming a small ad hoc committee of two to three board members plus an administrator to work on drafting recommended language and then present a polished plan to the full board.
Several board members expressed support for the ad hoc committee approach, saying it would be more efficient than using full board meeting time. The chair emphasized the upcoming bond effort and said the board should prioritize bond-related work before taking on extensive strategic-plan items.
Board members agreed to consider committee volunteers and continue the discussion at a later date.
