Commissioners award $1.63 million contract for North Mount Carmel Park playground and restroom

Lynn presented a resolution to award RFP 26-37 for construction of North Mount Carmel Park playground site improvements and a new restroom building and recommended awarding the contract to UJAMAA Construction of Morrow, Georgia.
"I am here to present to you a resolution awarding RFP 26Dash37 for the construction of North Mount Carmel Park playground site improvements and a new restroom building to UJAMAA construction in the amount of $1,632,848.59, utilizing SPLOST 6 funds," Lynn said. She explained the county received four proposals, evaluated them, interviewed the top two, and selected UJAMAA as the highest-rated proposer; funding was cited from SPLOST 6 project account SP6007.
Lynn noted the site currently lacks a restroom and that planned improvements will correct chronic drainage problems that flood the playground on heavy rain. Commissioner Lewis thanked Lynn and JP for the work, noting residents have long requested the improvement. A motion and second were recorded and the board approved the award by voice vote.
