Dezio Castillo told the commission he was chased by a coyote while walking his small dog near St. Michael's Shrine around 8 p.m., and said the sighting has left elderly and disabled neighbors afraid to go outside.
"I was chased with my dog... my Yaya, she's 80 years old, and she can't walk her dog now because of that," Castillo said, asking the city to be aware of wildlife and public-safety implications. Mayor Kouliannis acknowledged the chief heard the comment and said staff would follow up.
