Township staff backs no‑cost parking/license deal for televised Lehigh Valley golf tournament at Camp Olympic

Planner/parks staff Vince presented details of a proposed license and indemnification agreement with tournament organizers for the Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic, a multi‑day golf event scheduled for late September. The organizers asked to use Camp Olympic for VIP parking and offered to provide sponsorship and branding opportunities for the township and to sponsor the township’s back‑to‑school event in exchange for parking and promotional exposure.
Vince said the arrangement would be fully staffed and controlled by the tournament (four designated parking areas: A–D), would include portable toilets for parking patrons, and organizers would provide private security and traffic control. He said the tournament anticipates media coverage as a live event and estimated roughly "about 5,000 a day" in attendance on a conservative forecast.
Solicitor/attorney Mark added the license and indemnification agreement was drafted and is under review by the organizer’s legal counsel; staff confirmed there is no cash payment and that the organizers’ valuations keep the arrangement under the township’s $6,000 threshold that could trigger a procurement requirement. Staff will require proof of insurance and an indemnification clause prior to the event; the agreement will be returned to the board for action after legal review.
