Fire official warns of extreme fire behavior, recounts mutual-aid deployments

The official said personnel have been heavily engaged on state mobilizations since mid-June and recounted a July 4 deployment to Chelan Hills and other assignments, noting some vehicle damage and a destroyed state rig in the same incident area.
The official said the department performed constrained training (simulated smoke and forced-entry exercises) because of burn bans and has convened incident-stress and after-action reviews to capture operational lessons. He also reported the district responded to 383 calls in 2026 to date, compared with 395 for the same period last year.
