City Engineer Amy Zarey described revisions to the traffic-calming policy designed to standardize criteria and reflect current best practices. She said the process will include internal engineering review, input from the Complete Streets advisory committee and a technical oversight committee that includes planning, traffic, police and fire; preliminary review would then include the mayor and the ward councilor.
Zarey confirmed materials and budget considerations: "So I have confirmed that the material will be rubber, speed cushions. They'll be bolted in, and then there's an epoxy that is also combined with the bolts to just ensure, better stability." She told council the current year's budget might allow installations at roughly five locations; council approved the policy update 5–0 (Resolution 2678).
