Dr. Jennifer Rosen, president of the Hardiston Township Education Association and a district school psychologist, urged the board to ensure timely implementation of policies, completion of required staff evaluations and sustained attention to school safety.
Rosen said climate surveys are an important tool for feedback and asked that the district complete the process in a more timely manner so results can inform decisionmaking. She told the board that "some tenured staff members have not yet received all required observations," and said that when summative conferences are scheduled before observations are complete it creates uncertainty and undermines confidence in the evaluation process.
Rosen also criticized rising administrative expectations she described as excessive micromanagement and called for accountability at every level. She praised interim superintendent Monica Roland for responsiveness and welcomed the incoming superintendent, saying the association looks forward to a collaborative relationship.
