"It’s going to be a fire season like we have not seen probably in the state," the resident said, asking who is responsible for monitoring vegetative hazards and notifying homeowners. He said he had received a prior letter from the city asking him to clear weeds under his mailbox and that enforcement prompted compliance.
Staff responded that code enforcement has been issuing letters over the past two weeks and that detailed statistics will appear in next month’s staff report. The police/chief representative also said the city will track 9‑1‑1 and on‑call cost data and will update the council as more information becomes available. Councilors encouraged community defensible‑space efforts and noted the fire district’s concerns.
