Commissioners debated multiple options—extending the dates only, lowering targets, or coupling a timeline extension with new, more realistic targets after community listening. AJ (consultant/advisor) advised that goals should be "attainable" and that goal setting is "indistinguishable from resource allocation," urging the board to align targets with the resources it is willing to reallocate.
The motion to adopt the updated governance calendar and to extend the VVGGs by one year was moved, seconded and approved by roll call with all present commissioners voting "Yes." During the meeting staff also committed to modeling realistic projections and returning with recommended interim targets and a public engagement timeline for fall 2027. The board asked for follow‑up work and for staff to present modeled options at an upcoming meeting (May 12).
