The school board adopted a resolution March 23 to terminate and not renew the teaching contract of probationary teacher Ryan Wersal at the close of the 2025–2026 school year. Member Alex Carlson introduced the resolution; the board adopted it on a roll call vote with no members voting against the measure.
The resolution cites Minnesota Statutes 122A.40, Subdivision 5, and the district master agreement and states the action is taken "because of the discontinuance of all or portion of your position; namely, a classroom teacher at The Litchfield Middle School, based on the financial condition of the School District." The minutes also note that the teacher may officially request that the school board state its reasons in more detail and that written notice be sent as provided by law.
