Superintendent outlines staff learning day, junior-kindergarten meeting and an HR retirement

Superintendent Kirby opened his report by welcoming new trustees and reminding the board of upcoming calendar items: Jan. 20 will be a professional learning day for staff (no students in session), and Jan. 22 will feature an informational meeting about junior kindergarten options for families.
Kirby also announced a personnel change in the human-resources office: "Christina Nies, who's been a long time HR assistant superintendent and, just a wealth of knowledge, is gonna retire at the end of this, school year," he said. The superintendent said the district will post the position in January and review departmental organization to plan a transition.
The superintendent closed by reiterating that the district will continue work on safety and security and communications goals and that the board should expect one more intermediate quarterly review before the final evaluation in June.
