PBK presents 1,300‑page facility assessment to Pasadena ISD, outlining priorities across district campuses

PBK Architects presented a high-level overview of a year-long facility condition assessment to the Pasadena Independent School District Board of Trustees, saying the work produced roughly 1,300 pages of line-item findings covering 66 facilities.

A PBK presenter told trustees the team conducted hundreds of site visits and stakeholder interviews, and then compiled the results into a prioritized set of needs. "We had 76 hours of that stakeholder engagement," the PBK presenter said, summarizing the outreach effort. PBK said its team spent over 800 hours on campus walkthroughs and more than 40 hours reviewing and validating data with district staff.

PBK explained that the assessment breaks needs into four priority bands: P1 for immediate or critical needs (0–1 year), P2 for 2–5 years, P3 for 6–10 years, and P4 for long-term planning beyond 11 years. The firm said the report combines architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, structural and specialty discipline reviews to quantify both current condition and life-cycle timing for major systems.

Superintendent Tony Lopez thanked PBK for the work and said the assessment will inform next steps for scoping renovation and replacement projects. Trustees asked clarifying questions about how the data would be used to form project packages and preliminary cost estimates; PBK said the assessment is an input for creating focused project scopes and cost planning, not a funding decision itself.

The presentation closed with PBK offering to provide additional materials and follow-up sessions so trustees and staff can review detailed line items for each campus as planning moves forward.
