Board members advanced the item, took a formal vote and announced the appointment during the meeting. Dr. Fitzgerald summarized the hiring process, saying the district received 57 applicants, conducted screening and stakeholder interviews, held professional‑learning demonstrations and invited finalists back for classroom activities and cabinet interviews before bringing two finalists to the board for a final interview. After the vote, Chair declared the appointment official.
Mangoni thanked the board and described her visit to the building as decisive: “From the moment I walked in, I could feel the warmth, the joy, and the passion for student learning and student well‑being,” she said. The administration will work with the outgoing interim principal, Kramer Gilbert, on a transition plan leading up to July 1.
The board moved the appointment earlier on the agenda so the vote could occur that evening. Trustees spoke in support of making a prompt transition and requested that administration provide details of an entry and onboarding plan for Mangoni in the coming weeks.
