Regional partners and local providers present requests at Amelia County budget workshop

Several outside agencies presented their annual funding requests and described services they provide to Amelia County residents.
A representative of the Commonwealth Regional Council / Virginia Heartlands (S9) said the regional alliance brings grant-writing and planning support to member counties and reported bringing $3.8 million in grants to the region last year; the council's FY26 dues request remained $19,000. Dana Knott (S12) of the Longwood Small Business Development Center promoted one-on-one consulting, market research and a new Seed Innovation Hub in Farmville and asked the county to continue local support (S12 cited a $4,000 local ask at ~30¢ per capita).
Crossroads/CSB representatives (introduced during discussion) outlined behavioral-health, emergency and prevention services and confirmed the request amount the board had in its packet (presenters referenced an Amelia request around $44,712). Several smaller providers were noted in the packet but did not present; the board discussed a process for confirming past-year payments and agreed staff should return with reconciled records and proposed line-item allocations at the next workshop.
