Steps also requested $11,000 for domestic-violence victim services associated with Madeline's House and described a regional supportive-housing initiative: Steps has purchased roughly 50 acres at a site called Israel Hill and reported private fundraising of about $957,000 toward the project. Rosier asked smaller counties to consider a $25,000 one-time contribution for preconstruction and construction support; he offered the option to spread the county's share over multiple years, which other counties proposed to do.
Board members asked for more progress detail and financial milestones before committing larger, one-time funding. No formal vote occurred on Steps' requests at the workshop; the board asked staff to check prior-year payments and bring back reconciled numbers and options for phased contributions at the next workshop.
