Kristen Ho Heisel, presenting the levy-certification timeline, told the board staff did not yet have levy numbers because the state formulas and initial reports become available only after the Department of Education completes its run. Ho Heisel said she expects districts to receive the state-produced document next week and that will inform the preliminary levy the board will be asked to certify at the Sept. 16 meeting. She emphasized the preliminary action is not final; the levy is a multi-month process that will be revisited at the truth-and-taxation hearing and may be adjusted in December.
Board members asked about process timing and the connection to long-term facility maintenance plans. Ho Heisel said staff will return with numbers and that preliminary certification is routine as a first step in the FY25 tax and budget cycle.
