John Gronke presented the district’s revised Guide to Student Support and Behavior, which the presenter said is the product of months of input from students, staff, principals and community members. "This guide is closely directly aligned to our strategic plan," Gronke said, describing the change in layout and the addition of checklists intended to help families and staff understand procedures.
Gronke walked the board through substantive changes: more detailed prevention and support resources, updated links and an added emergency response guide, and a reworked disciplinary-level structure. He noted the handbook moved from four levels to five, with level 5 defined as possession and use of a firearm and group violence moved into level 4. Board members asked how the guide would be distributed, requested a few printed copies at buildings for families without scanning apps, and suggested further review by the ad hoc safety committee before final publication.
