District presents Read Act MOU; $815,860 in new state funds noted but won’t fully cover costs

"We are gonna receive another additional $815,860," the presenter said, adding that the dollars "will not" fully cover the compensation costs and that further budget planning will be necessary.
Assistant Superintendent Marty Voigt described the planned committee for curriculum review, which will include RFT (the teachers' group), licensed teachers who would use the curriculum, and community members to weigh curricular options and follow state rubrics. Board members asked how the MOU's costs will be evaluated relative to student outcomes and whether board credits and pay-for-PD mechanics were clear; staff said evaluation and implementation steps would be developed and shared in future readings.
