District says federal cuts to Title I/II have reduced professional-development funds

District staff told the board that much of the district’s professional-development budget is restricted federal funding and that recent federal adjustments reduced those resources. "Professional development is covered by restricted title 2 money. We usually get about 50,000. This year, the federal funds were cut by 30,000," the staff member said, and added that Title I restricted funds also declined by about $100,000.
Staff said the district already cut PD allocations and that any additional professional development beyond restricted funds would need to be paid from the general fund or supported by new revenue sources such as medical-billing recovery; board members noted these restrictions when weighing which programs to cut or retain.
