A principal reported a series of fall activities across the elementary campus designed to build community and social-emotional learning. The principal described SOAR assemblies focused on safety and positive behavior, an "energy bus" assembly and staff workshop, student artwork exhibited at the Sierra Art Trails, multiple field trips, and a jog-a-thon that was moved indoors due to rain.
"We kicked off energy bus for schools... He co wrote energy bus for schools. And, so he led an assembly with the kids, and then at the end of the day, we had a staff workshop," the presenter said, describing the program and its classroom follow-up. The principal also said the school is piloting the Positivity Project SEL curriculum through the winter and that vision-statement work for the site is underway with staff voting due shortly.
The presentation included descriptions of classroom activities, veteran card distribution (about 150 cards), and plans to expand school events such as the annual parade to include more grades.
