International Falls schools to close public access for two months for construction

The International Falls School Board voted May 18 to close Falls Elementary School and Falls High School to the general public from June 2, 2026, through August 2, 2026 to allow completion of internal construction work. The motion was made by Tina Sather and seconded by Jessica Crosby and carried unanimously.
District administrators said the closures are intended to ensure contractor access and student-safety preparations ahead of the 2026–27 school year; the motion does not prohibit district-organized summer programming where appropriate approvals and staffing are in place.
