The Board approved the appointment of Francis Sambalay as assistant principal at Dana Middle School, effective Aug. 1, 2025, following a multi-stage recruitment process.
Dr. Forsey described the hiring process: 78 applications were submitted, eight candidates were invited for in-person interviews, and three finalists advanced to final interviews and panels. "Her demonstrated success with social emotional learning and her ability to articulate how elementary experience can translate to middle school leadership stood out," a recommending administrator said.
Sambalay addressed the board after the vote, thanking colleagues, the counseling team and family. "I am overjoyed... I'm elated, I'm excited, and honored," she said, noting her hope to apply her counseling experience to support Dana Middle School students.
The motion to appoint passed by voice vote, 4–0.
