Valerie Hopkins, identifying herself as the current chairperson of the Lebanon Education Association (LEA), thanked the board for time and described the group's organization and priorities. She told trustees the LEA gave eight scholarships to graduating seniors last year and aims to maintain membership above 300 districtwide.
"My name is Valerie Hopkins. I'm serving as the current chairperson for LEA, and LEA stands for Lebanon Education Association," Hopkins said, outlining the group's focus on teacher advocacy and in-district communication. She said LEA plans to begin bringing brief classroom demonstrations or early-childhood spotlights to about 10 minutes of each board meeting so trustees can see learning in action across buildings.
Hopkins said membership fees go back to teachers through celebrations and scholarships and described the group’s internal representative structure (at least one representative per grade level). Board members thanked Hopkins and asked a couple of brief follow-ups about contracts and staffing; Hopkins responded the LEA looks forward to working with district leadership throughout the year.
