A district staff member (Speaker 6) told the board the cafeteria fund has moved closer to break-even since the district expanded free meals, allowing higher reimbursable claims. "Now that all students, eat for free, we're able to claim, more reimbursable meals because it's not holding them back from participating if, if they couldn't, afford lunch," the presenter said, describing revenues and expenditures as "pretty close together."
On developer fees, Speaker 6 summarized the required five‑year and annual reports and cautioned the district must show the fees were spent to avoid refund claims. The presenter said the district continues to work to close a longstanding 1991 portable project (architect deceased), which delays using developer fees for newly purchased portables; staff also flagged a pending school-safety grant that, if awarded, could allow using developer funds for cameras, alarms, and fencing as modernization expenses.
