"For thousands of our neighbors in Montgomery County, that means the legal status that many have held over the last 16 years is gone," he said, estimating roughly 5,000 residents may be affected.
Elridge described the decision as difficult for families and for county services that rely on Haitian workers in long-term health care, elder care and disability services. He urged people affected to contact the Gilchrist Center for help connecting with trusted providers offering legal guidance and family-stabilization services.
