City engineer Dan Hudson explained the system: "The systems are purposely detuned, so to speak, in terms of clarity of the optics. You can't read a license plate or anything like that. We don't record video with them," he said, noting the cameras provide detection calls to signal controllers.
Separately, the board approved a one-year contract with Bill's World Class Cleaning Service of Northampton, New Hampshire, in the amount of $90,000 for cleaning DPW, street and traffic buildings and the wastewater treatment facility. Staff noted the contractor has provided long-standing service. The motion passed on a voice vote.
