Board approves design contract to replace Centennial Pool

The Board of Public Works approved a design engineering services contract with the Turner Group of Concord, New Hampshire, not to exceed $103,600 to develop schematic designs for replacing Centennial Pool.
Parks superintendent Brian Kona told the board that "Centennial Pool was built in the 19 fifties, and it needs to be replaced," and that the contract will allow the city to produce design documents to go to bid on a full replacement. Funding for the contract was identified from the general fund property services account (category 54). Kona said staff would be available to answer questions during the design phase.
The motion to approve the contract was made by Commissioner Shea and passed by voice vote. The approval authorizes the design phase only; construction funding and a construction contract will require subsequent board and budget approvals.
