Principals highlight return of FACS, PBIS assemblies and READ Act training as school year begins

Elementary and middle‑school principals reported that FACS has returned for 7th–8th graders, PBIS (BUCS Pride) lessons and assemblies are underway, and many K‑6 teachers are participating in READ Act training.
W‑E‑M principals told the school board that a number of instructional and student‑support programs restarted this fall.
Middle‑school Principal Myles Knutson said FACS (family and consumer science) is back for all 7th and 8th graders this year for one quarter, and described student projects such as salsa and cowboy caviar. Knutson also described PBIS implementation, noting monthly all‑school assemblies and a BUCS Pride passport recognition system. In the elementary update he wrote that staff made supervision adjustments during lunch and recess to improve student safety and flow. The minutes state: "I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer!" as part of the principals’ submitted reports.
Knox/elementary notes in the minutes also say most K‑6 teachers are participating in OL&LA Read Act training, continuing through the year on designated professional development days.
