After community feedback, district trims proposed Sibonoy fence from 10 to 8 feet

Superintendent Dr. Chan told the board that plans for a perimeter fence at Sibonoy were revised downward after community feedback. "I've directed the architects to change the plan down to an 8 foot fence," she said, noting most existing perimeter fencing on the property is already at that height and the change will better balance student safety with neighborhood access.
Dr. Chan described the gate programming plan: the district will lock gates during school hours but program remote access to allow the properties to remain open after school hours and on weekends until dusk. She said parts of the property currently at 4-foot fencing will be raised to match 8 feet where appropriate.
The board acknowledged the balancing act between providing community access and protecting students and property; Dr. Chan said a fuller construction update will be provided after upcoming OACM and bond-steering meetings.
