Jessica Alexander explained the timeline: "So July 2 was the deadline, and the office was actually closed on July 2. I came and checked the drop box. I also checked it on July 3. There were 2 appeals that were put in the absentee ballot drop box instead of the drop box down by the steps." She reported both letters bore dates within the statutory 14‑day appeal window.
A member moved to accept the timeliness of the appeals; the motion was seconded by Kathy Perez and the board voiced assent. The matter was treated as procedural acceptance of filing timeliness rather than a determination on merits; one of the affected property owners noted in the record was Cliff Hamill, whose address and filing were discussed by staff.
The board added the accepted appeals to the list of five matters scheduled for hearing under the new assessments and confirmed notice and scheduling steps would follow by mail.
