WEM athletics and community programs report: cross country to state, football unbeaten, fall play dates set

At the Oct. 27 meeting Activities and Community Education Director Jeff Boran updated the board on athletics and community programs. Boran reported the WEM/JWP cross country team advanced to the State Meet on Nov. 1 at the University of Minnesota, and noted the varsity football team finished the regular season 8-0, winning the Mid South 'Silver' Subdistrict and earning the No. 1 seed in Section 2AA. Boran also reported the varsity volleyball team finished the regular season 19-8 and tied for the Gopher Conference championship.
Boran listed upcoming events and participation numbers: the Fall Play "Sherlock Holmes" will be performed Nov. 14-15 in the high school auditorium, Little Bucs Preschool enrollment is 54 with three classroom options, and driver education classroom registration had 21 students signed up for the next session starting Nov. 3. Boran also noted winter-season registration and cooperative programs with Waseca for certain sports.
