District staff told the board the district was awarded McKinney–Vento funds to help remove transportation barriers for students experiencing homelessness and recommended buying a van to make student transport more efficient and reduce wear on larger buses.
"The district was awarded, $44,000 or 100 a little over $44,000 to purchase a van," the transportation staff said, explaining the intent to use the remainder of the grant to supplement transportation costs until the funds are exhausted. Staff presented three bids and recommended the lowest-priced new 2023 transit-style van (bid listed at about $36,431; the motion recorded the purchase price as $36,439). The board moved to approve the purchase.
