At the start of its May 27 special called meeting, the Cumberland County Board of Supervisors voted to amend the agenda to add an item immediately after the closed session to potentially approve a contract with a named candidate.
Chairman John Newman recommended the addition. Supervisor Newman moved to amend the agenda; Supervisor Bryan Hamlet seconded the motion, which the board carried by recorded vote with all five members present voting aye. Shortly thereafter, Supervisor Paul Stimpson moved to approve the agenda as amended; Supervisor Hamlet seconded and the board again recorded unanimous support from members present.
The record does not show the candidate’s name in open session. The amendment indicates the board planned to reserve time after the closed session to consider any hiring or contract decision that might arise from interviews conducted in closed session.
