WEM highlights concerts, winter sports and extracurricular plans in December updates

Building principals and the community education director provided program updates at the Dec. 15 meeting. WEM K–4 and junior-high Principal Myles Knutson described strong student collaboration, winter concerts organized by Mr. Larson, and Partners In Education fundraising to support a 7th–8th grade ski trip and concession operations at basketball games.
High-school Principal Brandon Tagg said the district is about halfway through the semester, with the semester ending Jan. 16, and highlighted recent band and choir performances, the start of winter athletics, a JA Finance career exploration opportunity, and a recent Data Summit with partner districts. Activities Director Jeff Boran outlined winter sports schedules (including Mapleton Dec. 23 and TCU on Dec. 30), One Act Play preparations, and preschool/ECFE programming. He noted driver-education preparations will begin in the new year and preschool registration planning for 2026–2027 will start in January.
The reports emphasized high participation in music and athletics and ongoing coordination with partner schools for programming and student opportunities.
