The Commissioners Court unanimously appointed Krista to serve as Nueces County tax assessor-collector effective Sept. 1, following a presentation and Q&A on qualifications and continuity plans.
The judge recommended Krista and noted her prior work helping the interim auditor and in tax office operations. Krista told the court she has worked in the tax office for 13 years and described routine responsibilities: “When people call our office with a problem, most of the time ... I'm gonna be the person on the other end of that call helping those constituents, taxpayers with their problems,” she said. She also said she meets required certification hours and plans to complete additional required education. Commissioners praised her continuity with the office, and outgoing assessor Kevin addressed the court to thank colleagues and offer mentorship during the transition. The appointment was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
