Creswell board moves into executive session under ORS 192.660(2)(i) to review superintendent performance
Summary
At the April 1 special meeting the board invoked ORS 192.660(2)(i) to hold an executive session to review the superintendent's employment performance; media representatives and two district staff were invited and cameras were prohibited.
Chair Kandice Lemhouse Worsham announced that the board would meet in executive session under Oregon law to review and evaluate the employment-related performance of the superintendent, citing ORS 192.660(2)(i). She told those present that "representatives of the news media shall be allowed to attend the executive session" and that "No decision will be made in the executive session." The chair also named Superintendent Mike Johnson and Board Secretary Marilyn Cruzan as invited participants and asked other audience members to leave the room.
The minutes record that the board moved into executive session at 6:06 PM. Worsham emphasized that cameras, tape recorders and other recording devices were not allowed during the executive session and reiterated that the public record should only state the general subject of the session as announced. After the executive session the board adjourned at 7:02 PM; the transcript records no public action taken during that session.
