On Dec. 17 the Brookings-Harbor School District Board voted 5–0 to approve the first read of Policy EFA — Wellness. Trish Walker moved for first-read approval and Katherine Johnson seconded; Board discussion focused on alignment with state and federal wellness requirements and the opportunity for additional review prior to adoption.
Board members emphasized the value of aligning policy to statutory requirements while reserving time for stakeholders and staff to review details before a second reading and final adoption. The first-read vote advances the policy through the Board process; a second read and final action will occur at a later meeting when the Board has had an opportunity to consider any suggested revisions.
