School district launches Project Resilience donation drive for families affected by hurricane

Student services director Mr. White told the board the district will host 'Project Resilience' donation drives to help families affected by Hurricane Hilleen in Western North Carolina.
"Project resilience aims to support those devastated by the storm by providing some essential resources," White said, asking the community to donate items such as water, baby formula, diapers, individually packed snacks, batteries, trash bags, band-aids, toothbrushes, towels, socks and pet food. Collection events are scheduled for Oct. 8 and Oct. 10 at the Star Academy cafeteria from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., White said.
The district plans to partner with local organizations to distribute donations to families in the affected region and encouraged families, students and community groups to check the district’s social media for a flyer and details on drop-off. White said the initiative is part of the district’s ongoing community-support efforts following storm damage.
