Board members approved a package of instructional-calendar items that included summer program dates, a summer-school plan for traditional and year-round calendars, proposed exam-exemption guidelines for grades 9–12 beginning in the 2025–26 school year, and a year-round calendar for Lafayette school.
Dana Stevens, speaking for Miss Ferguson, said the summer-program dates and the traditional/year-round plans had been coordinated with principals and finance staff. On testing and summer-program participation, Stevens clarified that the policy language refers to students "who do not attend any summer program instruction" rather than partial attendance; the goal is to ensure that those receiving remediation are the participants of summer testing.
The board approved the summer dates and the exam-exemption guidelines by motion and voice vote. When approving Lafayette's year-round calendar, members asked staff to add progress-report and report-card date entries to the calendar packet to help parents plan. The board also directed staff to confirm the summer-testing language in policy documents before final posting.
