Wabasso board approves three-year contract for Anthony Aafedt as superintendent

The ISD 640 Board of Education voted unanimously Jan. 19 to approve a three-year contract for Anthony Aafedt to serve as superintendent of the Wabasso Public School District.
Robyn Hillesheim moved to approve the contract and Kimberly Frank seconded. The contract sets salary at $130,000 for the 2026–2027 school year, $133,500 for 2027–2028 and $137,000 for 2028–2029. The agreement includes a $1,500 annual contribution to an FSA account, a $5,000 annual contribution to the superintendent’s retirement annuity, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, vacation days and sick leave. Approval was made “contingent upon obtaining licensure prior to July 1, 2026,” according to the minutes.
Board Chair Josh Goche called the special meeting to order at 7:10 a.m. with all school board members present; Superintendent Jon Fulton was also in attendance. The motion to approve Aafedt’s contract carried unanimously, and Chair Goche adjourned the meeting at 7:27 a.m. Clerk Tom Carlson attested the minutes.
