Resident raises safety concerns about Route 209 intersection timing and a sunken drain

Resident Frank Schwager asked the board to press the state for measures to prevent motorists from blocking the intersection at Route 209 near the Valero/Delaware Station and raised a separate concern about a sunken drain that had flattened a tire.
"We have a light timing issue...they've diagnosed it to be communication issue between two lights...it's gonna require a big up so that they can get those two lights synced," Schwager said, noting that an ambulance was recently blocked when the intersection backed up. He recommended temporary signage and a formal request to the state DOT to address the problem.
Village staff said they have raised the issue with DOT and that technical repairs to subterranean communication lines may be required to keep signals synchronized; they agreed to press the state and consider interim signage to discourage blocking the intersection.
