The Creswell School District board voted Oct. 8 to approve its Lane ESD transit dollar request for the 2026–2027 biennium and amended the motion to cap transit dollars from the Oregon Department of Education at 50 percent.
Superintendent Mike Johnson explained the process to the board: “Districts are required to submit a form indicating whether they plan to take transit dollars or not by November first of each year.” Johnson recommended the district remain in the Lane ESD consortium and not exceed 50 percent in transit dollars. Ms. Wilkerson moved to amend her motion to not exceed 50 percent of the transit dollars from ODE; Ms. Stayton seconded and the amended motion carried unanimously.
The board’s decision sets the district’s posture for the upcoming biennium funding submission; the November 1 filing deadline is the operational constraint staff will use to prepare the required paperwork.
